Admission

The School, is clearly non-denominational.   

ADMISSIONS: Non- denominational. No racial, tribal or ethnic qualifications shall be required of any teacher, member of staff or student. Disability shall not be a hindrance to admission except that facilities do not exist for the blind and the dumb.

          Parents must sign an undertaking with Mayfield Schools that the Schools that the schools responsibility ends after School hours.

          Children eligible for admission into Mayfield Secondary School must be at least 11yers Old and must have completed at least primary 5.

Entrance examinations to JSS 1 are conducted every year.

          A personal interview is conducted for those who have passed the entrance examination.

ALL NEW STUDENTS FOR THE FIRST TIME PRESENT THE FOLLOWING REGISTRATION MATERIALS:

  1. 4passport photographs
  2. Photocopy of testimonial from last school
  3. Photocopy of Birth Certificate
  4. 2flat office files jackets.

EQUIPMENT TO BE PROVIDED BY STUDENT (JSS1):

  1. One classroom desk
  2. One chair/stool
  3. A pair brown sandals
  4. A pair of sneakers/canvas
  5. A pair of dark red stockings
  6. 1blak belt for boys
  7. 2hand-kerchiefs
  8. A school bag
  9. A padlock for the locker
  10. A beret is compulsory for all the girls
  11. One wrist watch, umbrella and rain coat
  12. Books:- parents are advice to buy books for their children/wards before they are brought to school. Their names should be clearly written on all their books as well as other items to avoid loss.

FEES:

All fees must be paid on or before the reopening date. No Student will be allowed into the classroom until all his/her fees have been paid. A detailed break down of all fees payable in enclosed.

NOTE:

Please ask for the correct receipt for all payments.

IDENTIFY:

If for any reason, a student wishes to change his/her name, a written consent from the parents must be obtained.

WITHDRAWALS:

All withdrawals at all times must be made in writing and all clearances made.

RE-ADMISSION:-

Absenteeism for a whole term without any information to the school will attract re-admission processes, i.e the fees in the foregone term/ s will be paid. Absenteeism for more than one term will be considered as withdrawal.

Transfer and leaving Certificates:-

A transfer certificate signed by the Principal shall, at the request of his/her parents or guardian, at a prescribed, fee (250), be issued to a student leaving the school on transfer to another school.

No transfer Certificates will be issued to a student who is in any way indebted to the school. A clearance Certificate, issued by the School must be presented before any transfer Certificate is issued.

RULES AND REGULATIONS

  1. Students are expected to consider others before themselves and to be polite at all times.
  2. No shouting or unruly behaviors at any time.
  3. No fighting both in and outside the school compound.
  4. No stealing, no smoking
  5. The daily programme laid down is compulsory and students must be punctual
  6. Classes and school compound must be cleaned (swept, mopped, dusted when necessary) before the assembly bell goes by the students concerned.
  7. The common language of the college is English. On no account must pidgin English be spoken.
  8. All communications between school societies and societies and organizations outside must be passed through the principal.
  9. Communications with the government or any bodies must be channeled through the principal.
  10. Whenever a teacher is not available to teach a class, the form captain should inform the supervisor. Students will work on their own quietly until another teacher is appointed to supervise the class.
  11.  Any form of money collection permission from the principal is forbidden.
  12.  Students must be provided with all items on the equipment list.
  13. Personal possessions must be clearly and permanently marked with the student’s name.
  14. No student may leave the compound during school hours without the approval of the school authority. Gate passes are issues for this purpose.
  15. Students are not allowed to receive visitors during school hours, rather, teachers on duty may be seen for any problem or emergencies.
  16. Students are forbidden to enter laboratories, staff rooms or specialist rooms until a member of staff is present.
  17.  DRESSES:

Students are expected to put on the correct school uniform at all times. All items must be clearly marked with the students name. Brown sandals are to be worn to school except on P.E. DAYS WHEN CANVASSES SHOULD BE WORN.  For girls, the use of elaborate trinkets is not allowed. Simple and small gold or gold plated ear-rings are allowed. Neck chains are not allowed. Nail varnish, lipstick and eye make are forbidden at all times. Students must appear neat and tidy at all times. Hair must be kept short, plaited or weaved.

  1.  COLLEGE PROPERTY

No items of the school furniture should be removed from one place to another without the approval of the school authority.

Willful damage to college property will be charge to the student concerned.

  1.  Every student is required to bring 4 passport photographs to school for

identity care and for official user.

  1. A tuck shop is provided on the compound where students can buy

their snacks and soft drinks, exercise books etc.
